Sakshi Thawani, founder of Sia In Seattle

SiaInSeattle was started by Sakshi in 2012 to add tinge of color to Seattle's grey skies with colorful drapes interwoven in Indian heritage.

Indian saree showcases the priceless art woven in magic of yarn. SiaInSeattle brings the finest of sarees - vintage weaves fused with modern designs. Sakshi, believes that it is weave of fabric draped that satisfies the creative spirit.

During the early days in Seattle, Sakshi worked for US Bank, on the day of Diwali she draped her saree and went to work in downtown Seattle. It was audacious of her as financial sector in US had women dressed up in trousers, skirts and dresses primarily western outfits. Her saree was appreciated and the elicit remark "where did you get it." The love for saree increased ten fold. The passion to bring her cultural heritage grew.

She is a housewife and mother of two boys from Seattle. She is raised in alleys of Raipur, Chhattisgarh the east-central part of India. The days when she did her Masters in Banking, SIMS Pune or did a stint in Standard Chartered Bangalore..her passion was to explore the streets to shop weaves of fabric for her mom, aunts and herself. She brings the finest Indian weaves packed with art from India.
